… Political, traditional leaders gather in Abuja for four-book unveiling
A high-profile gathering of Nigeria’s political elite and traditional rulers is set to hold in Abuja as former Ogun State governor and Senator representing Ogun East, Gbenga Daniel, marks his 70th birthday with the unveiling of four books chronicling his life and career.
The event, scheduled for 1 April 2026 at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja’s Central Business District, is expected to attract national attention with an array of top dignitaries billed to attend.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will attend as Special Guest of Honour alongside the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, while Senate President Godswill Akpabio is listed as Chief Guest of Honour.
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo will serve as Father of the Day, with another former President, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, chairing the occasion.
Also expected at the event is the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Muhammadu Abubakar III, alongside other eminent personalities including Sir Kessington Adebukola Adebutu and former Zamfara State governor, Abdulazeez Yari.
Traditional rulers billed to attend include the Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, the Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remoland, Oba Adewale Ajayi, and Chief (Dr.) Sonny Kuku, the Adele Awujale of Ijebuland.
The ceremony will feature the unveiling of four publications: “Daniel in the Lion’s Den” (Revised Edition), “My March Through the Court,” “Path to Justice,” and “Otunba Gbenga Daniel in the Eyes of Time,” all of which document Daniel’s political journey, legal battles and legacy in public service.
Media aide to the senator, Steve Oliyide, said preparations had been concluded for the event.
“All is set for a high-profile gathering of political heavyweights and revered traditional rulers to light up the book presentation for the special 70th birthday celebration of His Excellency, Senator Otunba (Engr.) Gbenga Daniel,” he said.
Organisers noted that the event is designed not only to celebrate Daniel’s milestone age but also to reflect on his contributions to governance, law and national development.
The Abuja ceremony is part of a week-long programme of activities marking the senator’s birthday, with a grand finale scheduled to hold in Lagos.
