Okpebholo Vows to Prioritize Welfare, Security, Infrastructure

Governor Monday Okpebholo has pledged to deliver on the promises of democracy for Edo State, with a focus on citizen welfare, improved security, and infrastructure development.

The newly elected governor made this commitment during his inauguration at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City on Tuesday, following his victory in the September 21 election.

“Today, you have officially given me the mandate to preside over our dear State as Governor for the next four years,” Okpebholo stated, assuring supporters that he and his Deputy, Rt. Honourable Dennis Idahosa, would honor the trust placed in them.

“We will not betray this confidence,” he added.

Reflecting on his journey to office, Okpebholo, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, expressed gratitude to the people of Edo for their support and peaceful participation in the election. “Democracy has triumphed again in our dear State,” he said, attributing his success to the people’s resolve for a better Edo.

Outlining his agenda, the governor emphasized that the welfare of Edo residents would be his administration’s top priority, with plans to support small businesses as a key driver of economic growth.

He also addressed the challenges facing Edo’s road network and security, which he described as critical areas in need of urgent attention.

“The deplorable condition of our roads has made it difficult for people to move from one part of the State to another,” Okpebholo noted, promising a concerted effort to improve transportation and connectivity across the state.

On security, he vowed to “be firm in dealing with criminals and improve the security of our land so that farming and other business activities will flourish again.”

The new administration’s commitments have sparked hope among citizens eager for tangible progress on pressing issues across Edo.
