The Senior Staff Association of Universities, Teaching Hospitals, Research Institutes, and Associated Institutions (SSAUTHRIAI), Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Abeokuta Chapter, has opposed the reassignment of two Finance and Account staff, alleging victimization and non-compliance with federal regulations.
In a letter addressed to the Medical Director, the union criticized the posting of Dr. O.R. Olusanjo and Mrs. C.Y. Ekundayo to the Internal Audit Department, describing the move as unjustified and contrary to Federal Government Financial Regulations Rule No. 1709.
The union argued that the reassignment appears to be an attempt to favor another officer, Mr. Idowu Samuel, who is under financial investigation by security agencies.
“This action indicates victimization and witch-hunting of our members while leaving the hospital vulnerable to unwarranted crises and industrial disharmony,” the letter stated.
The union also suggested that the postings could be intended to cover existing financial irregularities or serve personal interests. They warned that the move could lead to unrest within the hospital community and called for immediate reversal to maintain peace, transparency, and accountability.
The letter was copied to key stakeholders, including the Minister of State for Health, the DSS Ogun State Command, and the Alake of Egbaland, urging their intervention in the matter.
Efforts to reach the FMC Abeokuta management for comments were unsuccessful as of press time.
