…Governor commissions Adesan Road as aide highlights growing infrastructure footprint across the local government

…Ajibola pledges Obafemi Owode’s continued support for APC, seeks reconstruction of five strategic roads

Special Assistant to the Ogun State Governor, Hon. Suleiman Ajibola Mujaid, has praised Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration for its investment in road infrastructure in Obafemi Owode Local Government, while calling for more strategic road projects to consolidate the area’s economic growth.

Ajibola spoke during the commissioning of the newly completed Adesan Road in Obafemi Owode, where he described the project as part of a wider infrastructure push that has increasingly connected communities, businesses and agricultural settlements across the local government.

The commissioning provided another platform for the governor’s administration to showcase its infrastructure record, with Ajibola arguing that improved road connectivity is central to unlocking the economic potential of communities located within the rapidly developing axis of Ogun State.

Welcoming Governor Abiodun and his entourage on behalf of residents of the local government, Ajibola said the Adesan Road had strengthened connectivity between residential areas, schools, healthcare facilities, commercial centres and farming communities.

He said the intervention would reduce transportation difficulties and improve movement of people and goods, particularly for residents whose economic activities depend on reliable road networks.

“The construction of Adesan Road has greatly enhanced mobility, reduced travel stress, improved access to homes, schools, healthcare facilities, businesses and agricultural communities. This project is another demonstration of Your Excellency’s unwavering commitment to improving the quality of life of our people,” Ajibola said.

He listed several road projects undertaken by the Abiodun administration within and around Obafemi Owode, including the Abeokuta–Sagamu Express Road, Arepo Journalists Road, Siun–Owode Road Phase One, Panseke–Adigbe–Obada Road, Magboro–Makogi Road, Alapako–Oyebola Road and Prof. Wole Soyinka Train Station Road.

The newly commissioned Adesan Road, he added, further expands the administration’s infrastructure footprint in the local government.

While commending the governor, Ajibola said the infrastructure gains should be followed by further interventions in other parts of the local government.

He appealed for the reconstruction of the Siun–Owode–Ofada Road Phase Two, Orimerunmu Road, Kobape Township Road and Oke Afa–Ilupeju Road, alongside other roads requiring urgent attention.

“As Oliver Twist, we still have a few requests. On behalf of the good people of Obafemi Owode Local Government, I humbly appeal to Your Excellency to kindly consider the reconstruction of Siun–Owode–Ofada Road Phase Two, Orimerunmu Road, Kobape Township Road, Oke Afa–Ilupeju Road and other critical roads that require urgent government attention,” he said.

According to Ajibola, completing the identified projects would improve transportation and strengthen commercial activities, agricultural production and investment opportunities across the local government.

The local government, he disclosed, is also complementing the state government’s interventions through its own road programme.

He said the reconstruction of the 1.6-kilometre Adigbe–Idimango–Afobaje–Itabaale–Police Post Road had reached an advanced stage and was scheduled for commissioning on August 31, 2026.

He added that the one-kilometre Ogidan–Geleodun–Local Government Secretariat Road had already been completed and commissioned by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.

Beyond the immediate benefits of the road project, Ajibola used the occasion to reinforce the political relationship between the Abiodun administration and residents of Obafemi Owode, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He reaffirmed the local government’s support for the governor and the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, saying the administration’s infrastructure interventions had strengthened its connection with communities across the area.

Ajibola pledged the continued loyalty and support of residents of Obafemi Owode to Abiodun’s administration and expressed commitment to the success of the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.

The message comes as infrastructure remains one of the central issues likely to shape conversations around governance and electoral support in Ogun State, particularly in communities where road connectivity directly affects commerce, agriculture, commuting and access to public services.
