…Calls Grow for Yayi’s Governorship Bid

Adefemi Adesakin

As Ogun State prepares for the 2027 gubernatorial race, stakeholders are rallying behind Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi), citing his proven track record, developmental strides, and results-driven leadership as strong credentials for the state’s top job.

Former Commissioner for Environment and Special Assistant to the Deputy Senate President (South West), Hon. Bolaji Oyeleye, underscored Yayi’s suitability in a statement obtained by Medalinks News 24 on Tuesday.

“As 2027 approaches, the demand for visionary leadership and effective governance becomes more urgent. Ogun State requires a leader who can navigate the complexities of a VUCAD (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, Ambiguous, and Disruptive) environment with clarity and resilience,” Oyeleye said.

“Yayi’s proven track record of results-driven leadership and his ability to inspire confidence among his constituents position him as the ideal candidate to lead Ogun State into a future of stability and prosperity.”
Senator Adeola’s impact in Ogun West has been far-reaching. His skill acquisition programmes have trained and equipped over 6,000 indigenes with essential vocational skills, giving them a path to financial independence.

His commitment to education is evident in his funding of a modern library at the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, as well as his role in upgrading the institution to a university.
“In the tapestry of Nigerian politics, there are leaders whose actions speak louder than words, and Senator Yayi stands out as one,” Oyeleye remarked.

“Through his relentless drive for development and empowerment, he has not only earned the admiration of his constituents but has also positioned himself as a visionary leader with the potential to transform Ogun State.”
Beyond education, Yayi has championed critical infrastructure projects. He facilitated the construction of 156 modern classrooms, three ICT centers, and furnished 25 schools across primary, secondary, and tertiary levels.

His Mega Empowerment Programme has equipped over 10,000 constituents with startup grants and tools, reinforcing economic sustainability within Ogun West.

Understanding the role of infrastructure in economic development, Yayi has driven key road projects to enhance connectivity and mobility in Ogun West.

“Roads that were once impassable and a bane to economic activities have now become smooth pathways connecting communities, enabling trade, and improving livelihoods,” Oyeleye said.
Yayi has also provided electricity transformers to communities, significantly improving access to power. In a groundbreaking achievement, he facilitated the construction of a state-of-the-art two-storey school building at Mayigi Community High School, Ilashe, in Ipokia Local Government Area, featuring 18 fully furnished classrooms and modern offices.

Unlike some politicians who become detached from their constituents, Yayi has remained accessible and engaged at the grassroots level.
“His inclusivity and grassroots engagement have made him a beacon of hope in Ogun West,” Oyeleye noted. “He listens to the people and delivers projects that meet their real needs.”
Recognizing the importance of empowering youth and women, Yayi has implemented various programmes that provide vocational training, startup capital, and mentorship for young people.
Women, who often face systemic barriers in business and agriculture, have benefited from grants, skills acquisition initiatives, and agricultural support programs.

With Ogun’s vast economic potential remaining largely untapped, many believe Yayi is the leader needed to unlock the state’s opportunities. Oyeleye emphasized that Ogun now requires a leader with the rare combination of visionary thinking and pragmatic execution.
“His tenure as a senator has demonstrated that he embodies these qualities—offering a clear and transformative vision, a tireless work ethic, and an unshakable commitment to the well-being of the people,” he said.
Beyond his developmental strides, Yayi is also recognized for his integrity and ability to inspire hope. “In a political landscape often characterized by cynicism, he stands out as a beacon of trustworthiness and dedication,” Oyeleye added.
As 2027 approaches, the clamour for Yayi to step up as Ogun’s next governor grows louder. With his proven leadership, infrastructural impact, and unwavering commitment to the people, stakeholders believe Ogun State would experience a new era of prosperity, inclusivity, and sustainable development under his leadership.
“With Yayi at the helm, the future of Ogun State will be Bountiful, Resilient, Inclusive, Great, Harmonious, and Thriving (BRIGHT),” Oyeleye concluded.
