A Deputy Superintendent of Police with the Ogun State Police Command, Emmanuel Olaifa, has retired after 35 years of service, describing the milestone as a celebration of survival and fulfilment after years in active duty.

Medalinks Media Africa reports that the colourful ceremony was held on 1 May 2026 at the Police Officers’ Mess, Government Reservation Area, Ibara, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The event drew a wide array of dignitaries, including the Commissioner of Police, Olubode Ojajuni; former Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun (retd); and other senior police officers, alongside rank-and-file personnel, media practitioners and security stakeholders.

Also in attendance were Lagos socialite and lead partner of MMAL, Omooba Tiamiyu Taiwo; Medalinks Media Africa Human Resources strategist, Oluwatoyin Olubunmi Ogundele; top government officials and senior police officers from across Nigeria.

Medalinks Media Africa further reports that the ceremony began with praise and worship, featuring hymns including I Have Found A Friend in Jesus and Count Your Blessings, during a service conducted by the Redeemed Christian Church of God.

In his welcome address, the Commander of Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), Murphy Salami, described the occasion as a moment to honour a legacy of dedication, discipline and selfless service.

He said the retiree served with distinction, integrity and professionalism, leaving a standard worthy of emulation within the Nigeria Police Force.

Salami added that Olaifa’s leadership, mentorship and commitment had impacted many officers, noting that his legacy would continue to inspire those still in active service.

He also commended the Commissioner of Police for his leadership and acknowledged the support received from Nigerians in combating crime.

In his keynote address, Ojajuni described the retiree as a patriotic and loyal officer who maintained professionalism throughout his career.

He said Olaifa had never been found wanting and was known for maintaining cordial relationships with colleagues, adding that his service record reflected commitment to duty and national development.

Other highlights of the event included ministrations, goodwill messages and tributes from colleagues and guests, many of whom described the retiree as a disciplined officer with a human face.

Medalinks Media Africa reports that awards and gifts were presented to the retiree, including the Outstanding Police Officer Award conferred by Medalinks Media Africa.

The ceremony also featured the cutting of a retirement cake, musical performances and entertainment for guests.

According to his citation, Olaifa was born in 1970 in Ilale, Oke-Ero Local Government Area of Kwara State. He attended LSMB Primary School, Ilale, and Anglican Grammar School, Ilale.

He enlisted in the Nigeria Police Force on 1 May 1991 and trained at the Police Training School, Ilorin, before beginning a career that spanned several commands, including Ilorin, Kafanchan, Lagos, Abuja, JTF, Delta State and Abeokuta.
