The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area (OOLG) of Ogun State inaugurated its Campaign Council on Wednesday ahead of the upcoming local government election scheduled for November 16.
The council comprises grassroots APC chieftains drawn from the 12 wards in the local government.
The inauguration ceremony, held at the APC secretariat, was presided over by Chief Sowunmi, the Ogun State Senatorial Chairman of the party. He emphasized the council’s mandate to secure victory in the local government election.
Chief Sowunmi urged the campaign council to be inclusive in its strategy, accommodating all stakeholders in various sub-committees.
“You must remain resolute, committed, and law-abiding throughout this assignment and beyond,” Chief Sowunmi charged. “The success of APC in the Obafemi-Owode LG election depends on your effectiveness and dedication.”
Hon. Dele Erisan, a former Ogun State House of Assembly member for Obafemi-Owode LG Constituency (2003/2007), was appointed as the Director General of the Campaign Council.
Dr. Femi Akinbile was named the Secretary of the council, while other notable members included Hon. Fatai Mustapha, Chief Sola Oteshile, Hon. Lukman Sanyaolu, Hon. Sina Ayinde, Hon. Chief Nike Osoba, Hon. Muyiwa Ojebiyi, Hon. Adeola Akintande, Hon. Yinka Sogaolu, Hon. Abiola Asalulola, Mrs. Hanna Isigiola, Comrade Clement Adeniyi, Mr. Sesi Babatunde, and Alhaja Fatoki.
In his remarks, Hon. Erisan appealed to the committee members to remain focused on issues that would enhance the party’s chances in the election. “Let us concentrate on matters that will add value to our party’s success and avoid distractions that may steer us off the path to victory,” he advised.
Ambassador Ogunsola Adesina “Lanre FCPA,” the APC Chairmanship candidate for Obafemi-Owode LG, expressed gratitude to the party members for their efforts and reiterated his commitment to delivering the dividends of democracy at the grassroots level.
He also appreciated the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for giving him another opportunity to serve.
“I want to thank His Excellency, Governor Dapo Abiodun, for this opportunity to serve our people once again. I promise to work diligently to ensure that the benefits of democracy reach every corner of Obafemi-Owode Local Government,” he stated.
With the council now officially inaugurated, the APC leadership in Obafemi-Owode is set to intensify its campaign efforts towards ensuring a successful outing at the polls.
