Popular social media critic Martins Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, was granted bail on Friday by an Abuja court in the sum of N2 million following charges of impersonation.
The Police arraigned Otse after a viral video showed him in a police uniform, sparking legal action.
As part of the bail conditions, Otse is required to provide two sureties, each with the same financial commitment of N2 million, and to deposit his international passports and other identification with the court.
Otse’s lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, outlined additional bail requirements, saying, “Sureties must provide means of identification, utility bills, and reside within the court’s jurisdiction.
They are also required to depose an affidavit to produce the defendant at all times during trial.”
The prosecutor has been directed to verify the addresses of the sureties to ensure compliance with the court’s stipulations.
The court has mandated that Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, be available throughout the legal proceedings, underscoring the conditions to ensure he meets all legal obligations until the trial concludes.
