Chief Dada Jesiliu, the Lukosi of Igbeinland, has tendered an apology to the Igbein Traditional Council following a recent face-off that arose from a matter requiring internal resolution.
In a statement issued in Abeokuta, Chief Jesiliu affirmed the authority of the council on issues concerning the growth and progress of Igbeinland.
He emphasized that the integrity of the council surpasses individual sentiments, stating that its powers and functions must be upheld to ensure unity and rapid development in the community.
Reflecting on the misunderstanding that caused the dispute, Chief Jesiliu described it as a result of miscommunication between the traditional council and some chiefs.
He acknowledged the council’s disciplinary authority over its members and noted that decisions taken by the majority must be respected by all chiefs.
“Every institution has its own way of handling disciplinary matters, and the Igbein Traditional Council is no exception. While misunderstandings can occur in any gathering, once a decision is reached by the majority, no chief should oppose it,” Chief Jesiliu stated.
On behalf of other chiefs involved in the disagreement — including Idris Oyetunji, Mufutau Obayomi, Suraju Ayenreti, and Nurudeen Olowolagba — Chief Jesiliu issued an unreserved apology for their actions, which had disrupted the council’s administrative functions during the period of conflict.
He assured the council of a renewed commitment to fostering peace, unity, and collective collaboration for the progress of Igbeinland.
Chief Jesiliu also withdrew what he referred to as the “affront” to the council, attributing it to outdated ideas stemming from the old Ogboni system.
He appealed to the council’s leadership to temper justice with mercy, reminding them of their shared heritage as members of the same traditional family in Igbein.
The apology marks a significant step towards restoring harmony and advancing the development of Igbeinland.
