The Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta, has been closed indefinitely following protests by students over the management’s decision to verify National Diploma results submitted by applicants from other institutions.
In a statement signed by the Head of Public Relations and Protocol, Yemi Ajibola, the closure takes effect from Monday, January 13, 2025, and is aimed at ensuring the safety of lives and property.
“The management has expressed its zero tolerance for fake results from any quarters and is committed to maintaining the integrity of the institution,” the statement read.
Students have been advised to stay away from the campus in their best interests, while parents and the general public are assured of timely updates as the situation develops.
The protest, which disrupted normal academic activities, highlights the growing tension between the institution’s resolve to uphold academic standards and students’ reactions to stricter verification measures.
