…Three-day spiritual encounter focuses on ‘The Planting of the Lord’
…Church celebrates progress on cathedral building project, calls for continued partnership

The Mount Zion Christian Faith Assembly, located at the Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Aro, Abeokuta, Ogun State, hosted its 27th Annual August Reunion and Retreat with the theme “The Planting of the Lord” (Isaiah 61:1-3).
The three-day programme, held at the Cathedral, Nurses’ Hostel Road, from 29th to 31st August 2025, brought together members from within and outside Nigeria for a time of spiritual renewal and fellowship.
In his opening address, Chaplain Pastor Tony Ogbebor described the gathering as an annual divine appointment.
“It’s an annual programme. God told us that we are His planting. There is a reason for God to create us where we find ourselves. We are God’s planting and there’s an agenda for each of us. At the end of the three days’ programme, we expect that everyone will understand their purpose on earth and go back home with meaning,” he said.
Pastor Ogbebor further reminded participants of the true essence of Christianity, emphasising that “Jesus did not die because of prosperity, He died because of sin.
We are supposed to be winning souls and not chasing after life. The soul is the major concern to God.”
He noted that the retreat was designed to rekindle the spiritual commitment of members, including those who have passed through the hospital community over the years, no matter where they may be today.
The welcome address also highlighted the remarkable progress made on the church’s cathedral building project, made possible through the sacrificial contributions of members both at home and in the diaspora.
Pastor Ogbebor expressed gratitude to all who supported the vision and called for continued partnership to ensure the completion of the project, which stands as a testimony of faith and unity in the work of God’s kingdom.
The 2025 retreat offered participants opportunities to reflect, pray, and experience a fresh outpouring of God’s Spirit, with promises of transformation and empowerment for kingdom service.
The programme reinforced the church’s mission to nurture believers into “trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He might be glorified” (Isaiah 61:3).
