The Ogun State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthened inter-agency collaboration as a critical strategy in tackling drug abuse and illicit trafficking across the state.

The State Commander, CN Tijjani Rabe, made this known while hosting the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, during a familiarisation visit to the NDLEA headquarters.

Rabe underscored the growing nexus between drug-related offences and violent crimes, stressing that only a coordinated and intelligence-driven approach among security agencies can effectively address the challenge.

He explained that drug trafficking networks continue to fuel insecurity, thereby necessitating deeper operational synergy between the NDLEA and the police.

“Combating drug-related crimes and improving public safety require effective cooperation,” Rabe said, adding that “drug trafficking and abuse continue to drive violent crime and require a unified, intelligence-led response.”

The NDLEA boss noted that the visit provided an opportunity for both agencies to review existing collaboration frameworks and identify practical steps to enhance coordination, particularly in intelligence sharing and joint enforcement operations.

Earlier in his remarks, CP Ojajuni said the visit was part of efforts to strengthen institutional relationships and align strategies in addressing the menace of drug abuse and trafficking in Ogun State.

He reiterated the commitment of the police command to sustained partnership with the NDLEA, describing inter-agency cooperation as essential to achieving meaningful results in law enforcement.

“The visit is aimed at familiarising with the Command and to reaffirm commitment to sustained collaboration in tackling drug abuse and illicit trafficking across Ogun State,” Ojajuni said.

The engagement also featured symbolic gestures to reinforce the partnership, as the NDLEA Command decorated the Commissioner of Police as a War Against Drug Abuse ambassador.

Rabe described the recognition as part of efforts to mobilise key stakeholders in the ongoing campaign against drug abuse, while encouraging continued support from the police in advancing the agency’s mandate.
