The Ogun State Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, has emphasized that the ongoing rehabilitation of technical colleges across the state is aimed at attracting more students to technical education while addressing the national skills gap.
Speaking during an inspection of rehabilitation work at Government Technical Colleges in Idiaba and Isabo, Abeokuta, Prof. Arigbabu expressed satisfaction with the quality and pace of the work.
He stated that the upgraded facilities would enhance practical learning, foster creativity, and provide a conducive environment for academic excellence.
“This rehabilitation will attract more students to technical education, enhance their employability, and prepare them for entrepreneurial opportunities in various industries,” he said.
The Commissioner urged beneficiaries of the Ogun Girls TVET scholarship to maximize the opportunity, emphasizing the government’s commitment to empowering students, especially girls, through technical and vocational education.
Similarly, the Commissioner for Industry, Trade, and Investment, Hon. Adebola Sofela, commended the Ogun State Government for prioritizing technical education. He highlighted that the initiative aligns with the government’s vision of creating a skilled workforce capable of meeting local and global industry demands.
“The intervention strengthens the connection between education and industry, equipping students with relevant skills for today’s dynamic economy,” Sofela noted.
The rehabilitation project is part of the Ogun State Economic Transformation Project (OGSTEP), designed to improve economic livelihoods through strategic investments in education and skills development.
