The Table Water Manufacturers Association of Ogun State has intensified its crackdown on unregistered table and sachet water producers, warning that those who fail to register will no longer be allowed to operate within the state.
Speaking at a press conference, Elder Pius Iyiola Komolafe, Chairman of the association’s Egba Zone chapter, stressed the need for collaboration among manufacturers, marketers, and security agencies to eliminate illegal water producers.
“We call on security agencies to work hand-in-hand with us to identify and prosecute those selling unregistered products to protect the people of Ogun State,” Elder Komolafe declared.
The association has issued a one-week ultimatum for unregistered water producers to formalize their membership, warning that failure to comply will lead to enforcement actions. Komolafe further emphasized that both water producers and marketers must belong to the association, urging consumers to desist from patronizing non-compliant sellers.
Zonal Marketers Chairman, Mr. Titus Aderemi, reinforced the directive, stating that only registered water producers have the right to fix prices. He also announced the introduction of a uniform and identity card for all marketers in the state, ensuring proper identification.
“All marketers in Ogun State will no longer sell products from any water producer who is not fully registered or who refuses to abide by the association’s regulations,” Aderemi stated.
Ambassador Prophet Dr. Olayinka Solola, Patron of the association, raised concerns about the health risks posed by unregistered water producers operating without NAFDAC certification.
“We urge the general public not to buy table or sachet water from unregistered manufacturers and marketers,” Dr. Solola warned. “It is our responsibility to ensure that only safe and clean drinking water is sold in our state.”
The press conference was attended by key stakeholders, including Amb. Prophet Olayinka Solola, Elder Iyiola Komolafe, Elder Titus Oluwaduro, Mr. Abayomi Fatungase, Mr. Somoye Sebili, Mrs. Ogunsola, Mr. Babatunde Michael, Mr. Faleti Taiwo, Mr. Ayoola Tunde, Mr. Jacob Adepoju, Mr. Segun Akinbade, Mrs. Abiodun, Mr. Tobi Johnson, and Mr. Femi Olatinjiri.
